My Beach & Swimwear Wishlist

This week is set to be hot, hot, HOT and with my second holiday of the year fast approaching my mind has been on buying the perfect pieces of sexy beach and swimwear.

When it comes to holidaying abroad, I love re-inventing my style, as it gives me a chance to really experiment with things I already have in my wardrobe as well as choose things that I wouldn’t normally get to wear in the UK.  However, I would say my downfall is definitely beach and swimwear – I mean who doesn’t want to look 💯 sipping on a cocktail next to the pool or sunbathing on the beach?

As I’m sure you all can agree, when going away things can get a little out of hand, especially when shopping for clothes – things can quickly start to add up, which is why I’m so excited to share – Lovethesales.com with you!

I recently found about about lovethesales.com and I’m so surprised I hadn’t heard of it earlier. If you love designer brands, they have plenty of favourites like Missguided, Ted Baker, Converse, DKNY, All Saints and so much more with heavy discounts – it’s actually crazy!

So of course, I had to peep any deals I could get for my holiday! I love expensive looking swimwear, what can I say I have expensive taste 😩

Lovethesales.com, have a great selection of swimwear for all body types, plus cool kaftans for when you’re simply lounging around, at great price points.

I tend to always go for bright colours and prints as they go great against my skin once I’ve caught the sun, but I do love packing a good mixture all-in-one swimsuits and bikini’s so take a peek at my wish list…

Which piece do you think I should treat myself to?

If you’re off on a summer getaway, I highly suggest checking this site out, and maybe even treating yourself to a little luxury for less – my purchases are currently pending!

See you on my next one x

My Beauty Travel Essentials

Hey Lovelies,

With summer teasing us here in the UK, I’ve booked my next holiday to Dubai!

As a semi-seasoned jet setter (lol I wish!) I’ve teamed up with my blogger babe – Lani Rae all the way from New Zealand to bring you a fashion and beauty series to help you prepare for your summer travels – so make sure you head over to her blog for the fashion segment!

As I have just come back from Thailand, I thought I’d let you in on my top holiday beauty essentials, as I’m sure all you girlies can appreciate how hard it is to decide what beauty faves we should pop in our suitcase, while taking into account that we may get a tan – I mean, do we really need a brand new powder from duty free 3 shades darker? Yes, I hold my hands up, I am guilty of this – never again!

I love the countdown to a holiday for two reasons; it’s a chance for me to escape to an idyllic location, away from the hustle and bustle of London and the stresses of work so I can relax, but, also because I know it’s a great chance to treat my skin to plenty of Vitamin D as well as calm down on the makeup so my skin can breathe and repair itself.

It’s good to note that while on the plane, it’s wise to take off any makeup. Air con on the plane is a MF and completely dries out the skin. So pack makeup wipes and a great moisturiser – I quite like Nuit Polaire, although a night cream, it’s very moisturising without being heavy, and really sinks into the skin – great for a long haul flight.

For the most part of any holiday I go on, I rarely wear much makeup, however, I do have a few beauty essentials I need to let you all in on, so keep reading!

Beauty Essentials 6

Now I always over pack, no matter where I am going – is this just me?

An absolute essential for me is sun protection. Many people think that black people don’t need sun protection but everyone should protect themselves against UV rays, which is why I love Ultrasun.

Ultrasun have a massive range of sun protection – which I get for the face as well as the body. The formulas are not too heavy either, which is great as no one wants to feel like a grease ball in the sun.

Beauty Essentials 4

Next up is a CC Cream. Before I went to Thailand I was on a mission to achieve golden shimmery sun kissed skin. It didn’t really work out as planned but on my hunt, I did manage to bag The Body Shop’s new Instaglow CC cream.

I’m surprised at how much I actually loved using this as I’ve never believed in CC creams. However, I found it worked well to give me a more even skin tone, while looking quite natural, perfect for when you plan on lounging around the pool, but don’t want to go completely commando on the face.

Beauty Essentials 3

In the evening, I mixed the the CC cream with a dot of my usual foundation for fuller coverage, and set with my Bare Minerals powder.

When on holiday a highlight needed to accentuate your sun kissed glow! And it’s easily achieved with the perfect products and the right brush.

I hadn’t found the perfect highlight, before going to Thailand so I used a bunch of products to give me a nice shimmery glow anyway, which became my go to beauty finish.

Beauty Essentials 1

Just look at that highlight! I used a combination of Lush’s Feeling Younger Golden Highlight on my cheekbones, followed by Bobbi Browns golden shimmery eyeshadows.

My next beauty essential has to be a brow pencil. I was talking to one of my blogger compadres, Shannon Kara, and we both agreed that while foundation isn’t a must on holiday, having well-groomed fleeky eyebrows and a nice lip colour is an absolute must. While I was using my MAC eyebrow pencil, during my next getaway I will definitely be packing my magical Benefit brow productshave you read my review?

Beauty Essentials 2
I normally tidy up my eyebrows with my foundation, instead of concealer as it makes for less packing and I hate the halo effect round eyebrows.

As I previously said, I like to keep my makeup to minimum and being away in a hot country is the perfect opportunity to show you skin some TLC, so cleansing and moisturising products are much needed essentials. I always pack a charcoal face scrub by Garnier, as the fine exfoliants really get every inch of dirt off my face. I then moisturise my face with a light moisturiser – Drops of Youth from The Body Shop so my skin has a clean base for any products to go on if I choose to put on any makeup.

Beauty Essentails 5

When on holiday there’s no doubt you’ll probably go out on the town at least once, which is why a nice lippie and an eye shadow palette suitable for every occasion should be part of your beauty essentials. Keep things simple as no one has time to sweat off their whole face  – it’s really not a good look, but make it effective. I love packing my Ruby Woo as it screams sophistication and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a red lip?

So there you have it – my holiday essentials. Simple yet effective. What are you beauty essentials? Leave a comment and let me know x

Don’t forget to check my girl – Lani Rae’s collab post all about fashion essentials too!

Sunday Brunching: Côte Brasserie

This weekend my sister celebrated her 16th birthday (I’m actually getting old 😖 😫). After a busy week for both of us – with her going to her leavers prom and me getting wasted on Friday after a LONG week at work, we decided to be ladies who brunch.

CB1

I’ve always headed to Battersea Rise when I’m on the lookout for cool eateries, no matter if i’m feeling in the mood for American style pancakes, a tasty fry up or want to try something new, I know it’s a foodies safe – haven.

This time we decided on brunch at Côte Brasserie, a cute understated restaurant situated on the corner of Webbs Road.

CB

Inspired by the brasseries of Paris, Côte Brasserie offers all-day dining, serving authentic French classics as well as British faves made from great quality and fresh ingredients.

With an empty stomach and breakfast on our minds, we arrived just before last orders were taken – 1pm on weekends and 12pm on weekdays.

The interior was very minimalistic and sophisticated, complemented by rich burgundy and grey hues for a light yet moody atmosphere, perfect if you want to escape the outside world for a few hours, and if you’ve got a tender headache and need a calm atmosphere to co-operate lol.

The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, so we got the drinks in…tea! Am I the only one to think that tea always tastes better in a tea pot? I can just never get it right at home.

CB4

The breakfast menu had quite a small selection but covered all the bases, but after scanning the menu I ended up getting an Full English Breakfast – very adventurous, I know – but after such a busy weekend I just needed ALL the food!

CB3

What I loved is that I got to pick what type of eggs I wanted, normally cafes give you the choice between fried and scrambled, but this time I went for poached…ooh lala! My order also came with the option to choose what bread I wanted to be toasted.

CB6

My sister ended up going for the more brunchy and picturesque option of Eggs Royale -which looked amazing. After about a 20 minute wait, our food was served.

CB5

CB7

The portions were just right, but, of course we couldn’t go to a brasserie without trying something even remotely french, so we ordered a pain au chocolate and a croissant which were served warm, making them melt in the mouth. No one likes a hard pastry.

Côte Brasserie was the ideal choice for Sunday brunch, especially if you don’t feel like queuing up for The Breakfast Club, which is a more popular choice a few doors away but had a waiting time of 2 hours 😐.

The staff’s attention to detail and overall customer care was 💯 , and the food was not only delicious but also very affordable with our bill coming in at under £30, they also offer a gluten free menu, great if you want to brunch with friends who have different eating requirements.

For me this restaurant was definitely one of the best I’ve been to for breakfast/brunch and an overall great experience, so I would rate it a solid 9/10!

Looking for somewhere to brunch? Try Côte Brasserie.

N.B. – To avoid disappointment, I would advise to book a table in advance as it got quite busy, while we were eating.

See you on my next post x

How to Rejuvenate your Life After a Messy Weekend

Hey you lovely lot, you may be wondering where I’ve been over the past week, although I’m sure many of you haven’t even noticed my absence in the blogosphere, but after a mini unscheduled break (000ps!) I’m back at it!

For the first time in forever, I went on girls weekender with my cousins and in all seriousness, it’s taken me a whole week to recover – saying that I still feel a bit stiff.

We took a trip to Southport for a yearly event called Caribbean Weekender and to say the least, it was a crazy 72 hours.. smh

After three days of non stop drinking (I’m not actually a drinker at all), binge eating (at ridiculous times too) and a couple hours sleep, you can only imagine how I felt when I got back to my safe haven – home.

By the time I sat down in relaxation mode, it’s as if everything hit me at once. I caught the flu, my voice had gone, I felt tipsy and my body was aching at the peril of the terrible mattress I laid on and from all the dancing did (I’m not painting a pretty picture am I? I did have a good time though, I promise) but, I needed some major TLC.

So here’s 5 simple steps in which I rejuvenated my LIFE! (A bit dramatic, I know)…

First on my list was getting back into a skincare routine. While I was away my skincare routine went completely out of the window and combined with all the alcohol I consumed, my skin was dehydrated, dry and felt really grainy, which is why I made a point to exfoliate my skin in the morning, and moisturise using Simple Rich Moisturiser, cleanse again at night and then go in with Polar Night Cream, a really intense and quite rich moisturiser that regenerates the skin, which I received in this months Birchbox

How to rejuvenate your life after a messy weekend

What skincare are you loving at the moment?

As I mentioned, my body and bones were shot, and my whole being really needed revitalising. If you haven’t heard of Australian Bodycare products, please get to know! Their skin wash and body lotion, infused with Tea Tree Oil, really refreshes the body, which helps on mornings getting ready for work, and it smells refreshing too. Also sent in this months birch box has been Rituals Foaming Shower Gel Sensation, which I mainly use on the weekends after gym as the scent is calming and relaxing, and the foam feels nourishing against the skin – love!

How to rejuvenate your life after a messy weekend

Who else is loving their Birchbox this month?

Drinking alcohol leaves you feeling dehydrated and also quite shite, so I always make sure I drink loads of water throughout the day. Over the past week I’ve limited my coffee intake to just one a day while I’m at work, but I’ve swapped my usual teas for lemon and honey green tea, which has helped soothe my throat and I’m better for it – adding a slice of lemon and a few paracetamols helped too!

The problem with having a messy weekend is returning to work! Lawd, it’s the worst, but it has to be done. I really wanted to get a full body massage before making my dreaded return, but I just didn’t have any time, so to make up for it I just chilled with a Timeless Truth Eye Mask on, which ‘woke’ me up and reduced the puffiness around my eyes.

BH16

Using my Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. Oh my gahhd- this stuff is beautiful. It smells divine. I like using this when I feel crusty, as it hydrates the skin and gently refreshes you.

BH13

Lastly, I kick a horrible hangover with FOOD! I know you’re all probably fans of a greasy fry up – I am too, but when I was away, I was eating a fry up every day lol. When I got back home, all I wanted was some fruit and veg…honestly! I just wanted to feel human again. But on a real note, the best way to my heart when I’m feeling down is scrambled eggs, salmon and an Avocado – did you know they make you happy?

After following these easy revitalising tricks for the last week, I have felt somewhat alive again lol. Getting wasted really is a chore, how do you kick a really bad hangover and rejuvenate yourself?

Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram & Twitter too x

10 Things You Should Do This Spring

Hi beautiful people!

Spring is in the air and I’m loving it –  I’m sure I’m not the only one either! The sun has finally come out of hiding – I really hope I haven’t jinxed the weather, the days are becoming longer, flowers are in bloom and I seriously feel like I can live a life after work, because there’s still daylight until about 7:30pm lol … the simple things ey!

summer-spring-flower-pink

So in celebration of this absolutely lush season, I thought I would share 10 things you can do to make the most of the season.

  1. Spring clean – This may be a bit cliche, but a good ole spring clean can clear you space and therefore clear your mind. It doesn’t just have to be limited to your living space either, it could be your wardrobe or even people around you.
  2. Pick up a new book – I haven’t read a juicy page turner in ages, but when the seasons change I love picking up a new book, to sit in the park or my garden with. It’s also nice to escape from the real world every once in a while too! One of my favourite authors is Chimamanda Adiche – Have you heard of her?
  3. Plan a day trip – The sun’s out so do something/ go somewhere you’ve always wanted to go. I really want to take a trip down to Brighton, can you believe I’ve never been – sacrilege!
  4. Switch up your style – This season is all about new beginnings, so it’s the most ideal time to switch up your style and introduce pieces into your closet that you wouldn’t normally – be adventurous!
  5. Spend a day with people you care about – Put your phones down and step away from wifi. Give the people you love your undivided attention – you won’t regret it!
  6. Do something nice for a stranger – Sometimes it’s nice, just to be nice… so why don’t you pay for the persons Starbucks in the line next to you, or simply give a compliment to a stranger.
  7. Organise brunch with your close friends – It’s so easy to lose contact with friends, especially once you start working or situations change, so spring is a great time to plan a much needed catch up over brunch…remember once friends, always friends and when there’s food involved there’s really nothing to be afraid of
  8. Picnic – Organise a picnic, choose a good park with a decent public toilet nearby and spend the whole day there, maybe get lost in a book (see no.2) My all time favourite parks are Battersea and Wimbledon, what are yours?
  9. Treat yourself or a friend to a present...just because – everyone like a lil surprise so if you see something your bestie will appreciate, pick it up for them, it doesn’t need to be expensive either.
  10. Make it a season to remember! – No matter what you do, fill the spring season with memories to last forever! I would love to do a blogging challenge of blogging everyday of the season, what do you think?

Will you be doing any of these things across the season? Do you have any suggestions for me? Hope this gave you some inspo x

Coffee Chronicles: Monmouth Coffee

Hey boo thangs! How’re you all doing? Easter weekend has flown by and now I’m sadly back at work *weeps into tissue*

Normally over Easter I just chill at home and over indulge, but this year I thought I’d take advantage of my time off work to go out and explore London… and as with any trip out, mine always involves – COFFEE!!!

I am a coffee and tea addict. There, I said it lol. I have a cupboard in my kitchen dedicated to all types of teas; chocolate, lemon, liquorice, chai… anything you could think of, and while I do love sipping a nice warm brew in the comfort of my own home, I do love to treat myself to a cheeky Costa or Starbucks, however, sometimes a girl needs a little change, which is why I made my way to Monmouth Coffee – the best coffee in town…or close enough!

My boyfriend and I decided to take a trip to convent garden in search of what has been described as one of the best coffee spots in London (rated 4.5 on Trip Advisor and ranked 11  out of 756 in London)

cg

As a Londoner, it’s actually ridiculous that I’ve only been to Convent Garden a handful of times, especially as it’s so beautiful and filled with a good mixture of high street and high end shops…

After a peruse around the shops we made our way to Monmouth Coffee which is about a 5 minute walk from Convent Garden square.

mon

We spotted it instantly as there was a decent line going outside which is definitely a reflection of how good the coffee is.  After a short wait to get a seat, it felt like we escaped the hustle and bustle of London, and entered a little safe haven. The atmosphere was really relaxed inside, we shared a booth with two other ladies and the staff were so friendly.

mon4

I didn’t really know what to order, as they had a minimalistic menu, normally if I go to Starbucks, I order a White Chocolate Mocha or a warming Chai Latte, but it was time to branch out (within reason) so, I opted for a Cafe Au Lait – a very milky option for those that love a creamy blend, and a Latte – for those that love the full power of coffee as well as a velvety creamy taste.

mon2

Talking to the barista about my preferred taste in coffee she recommended these two, and ‘bae’ got a Flat White.

bae

mon6

I am in no way a coffee connoisseur but Monmouth Coffee tastes amazing and it’s super affordable pitstop. It’s really smooth and each drink tastes different, showing how perfectly blended they are. The distinct taste of each coffee is testament to how they source their coffee too, while they also sell coffee (whole and ground) using organic Jersey whole milk from Jeff Bowles in Somerset along with organic whole cane sugar from Assukkar, Costa Rica.

mon3

My boyfriend always makes fun of me and calls me a ‘Starbucks wanker’ but even he appreciated how beautifully blended this coffee was, so, I will definitely recommend this place to all you coffee lovers and re-visit as soon possible.

What coffee shops in and around London do you think I should visit next? x

The Bloggers Hangout Event!

On Monday I attended my first ever blogger event!

Since I started my blog – which wasn’t THAT long ago – I have heard nothing but good things about The Bloggers Hangout events, so I signed up to attend the evening soiree in Hoxton, and it was nothing short of an amazing experience!

On the day of the event I didn’t really have any expectations, but I was a bit anxious, worrying about what to expect, wondering what the atmosphere would be like and if I would talk to anyone… but, to be honest, I had nothing to worry about.

So let me rewind – Just before the event, I had arranged to meet up with a few lovely bloggers that I had become friends through Twitter chats – Laura, Christine & Shannon  x

The venue was a short walk away from Hoxton station and was in a cute kind of derelict building. I wasn’t really sure what to expect in terms of layout but at first glance it appeared quite small, however, as I made my way throughout the stalls I noticed there was actually two rooms filled with bloggers and great brands!

So, when we first entered the venue, I kind of felt out of my depth, and the best thing to do, for me, in these types of situations, is just dive in. The first brand that caught my eye was a drinks brand called ZEO.

To be completely honest I didn’t really know how to approach the stall, but I went up and the lady was sooo kind. She went through the brand, telling me a little about the drinks – check them out here! They had five flavours to taste, including: Peach and Grapefruit, Zesty Lime, Blood Orange and Citrus, Mixed Berry and Cloudy Lemon, but, I opted for the peach and grapefruit, as I normally got for a safe lemon kind of drink.

I know everybody expects us bloggers to rave about the brands in these blogs, but I was pleasantly surprised about Zeo’s refreshingly fruity taste, which wasn’t too overpowering or too fizzy, making it a great treat if you’re trying to ween yourself off of fizzy drinks, yet still want to fill the void with a sparkling treat.

After tasting, I got talking to the brand representative and she basically explained the drinks in more detail: “We add a tiny amount of South American Stevia and just a touch of beet and cane sugar for sweetness. Our six bright, crisp and refreshing flavours are carefully crafted in small batches and are under 30 calories for a 275ml bottle.”

I’m not a fan of juices or fizzy drinks, but this is a drink I would genuinely buy from time to time. What really interested me though is that the drinks are perfect for experimenting with, say if you wanted to make a low calorie Mojito or create a zesty icing for a cake!

BH2

BH11

After speaking to Zeo, I felt a lot more confident about talking to other brands. At these types of events it’s so easy to feel out of place, but I just went to the next stall which was Jurlique!

I’ve heard of Jurlique before through some of my fave vloggers on YouTube, but had never tried them for myself. Jurlique is a natural skincare brand from Australia and they are amazing!

BH3

I was immediately drawn in by their cute stall, which was decorated with their new hand creams – I’m sure you know how much I love hand creams and lip balms now – so I had a peruse and the representative, Claire, got talking to me. I told her my obsession with hand creams like a complete nerd, and she offered to give me a hand massage using the new hand cream range! Let me just say… this hand cream DOES work. I dunno if it was the hand massage combined with the cream but my hands felt supple and moisturised. Normally if I wash my hands they get tight and really dry, but I woke up the next day and they still felt soft, even my boyfriend noticed, and that says a LOT! So check them out!

BH4

BH13

Claire was so personable and I feel like we really got on, she also kindly gave me this rosewater balancing mist that smells divine. It refreshes and revitalises your face and can be sprayed over your makeup after a long day or just used to calm and rebalance you.

Next up was Kenneth Turner, I am a huge candle fan, I have so many sweet homely scented Yankee Candles in my room but, Kenneth Turner is master florist who embraces floral couture and has turned his passion into a niche – floral scented candles that are long lasting!

BH7

This was the amazing Kenneth Turner table, all the scented candles and incense sticks were on display and truly smelled divine. Not to blow my own trumpet or anything, but I was actually quite good at deciphering the ingredients in each candle – the lady was suprisingly impressed – my favourite being Spirit.

BH14

BH15

I chose to take the scented room cologne in Signature a quite spicy and classic scent, which is a completely different scent  from what I would normally, but I’ve never had a room cologne so I thought I’d try a different type of product.

During the event, there were a lot of stalls to choose from, but I tried to only go to brands that I thought I would be genuinely interested in… I feature nail styles and trends quite a bit on my blog which is why I had to visit ThumbsUp a brand that specialises in cool graphical nail wraps – just look at their amazon patterns *dreamy eyes*

BH9

BH10

I don’t know if you know this, but I work in the jewellery industry, which means I’m always drawn to really sparkly pretty jewellery. Dolly’s was one of three jewellery stalls featured at the event, but out of all, I really liked her pieces. Dolly’s pieces were all handmade – she was kind enough to gift me this gorgeous skiver feather charm bracelet which will look wicked stacked against my watch and other cool bracelets.

BH12

By this point, I had nearly been around all the stalls for the event, but I feel I really had left best until last – I found a stall for L.A.B2 and SensationNAIL !

L.A.B2 are a brand that creates professional makeup products and tools for makeup junkies – making it easy for normal people like me with a real interest in makeup to make our makeup look flawless. I received a gift bag which contained some makeup brushes and a cute sponge applicator – The box also featured a diagram on how to actually use the sponge applicator which will come in handy as I’ve had no luck in the past.

BH17

I’ve actually used the makeup brushes once to create a glittery eye look and they were so nice to use. The brushes were fluffy and dense and picked up product quite well. They are simply designed too, which I love!

BH18

SensatioNAIL is probably the brand I was most excited about trying after I left the event, offering shiny gel nails that are achievable from your own home. I don’t know how to explain just how excited I was, but getting shellac every two weeks can become expensive, so this is a great and affordable alternative, especially as you don’t have to use special gel colours, but can use your own nail varnish and mix it with a gel formula to created a gel polish from your already existing collection! whoop whoop!

BH19

The pack contained an easy three step guide and to set the nails AND it comes with a snazzy LED Lamp! I mean – this is crazy!

BH20

As you can probably tell from all the amazing goodies I picked up, the event was totally beneficial, although, I do wish it was more social, in terms of meeting bloggers as everyone was occupied with talking to brands – It seems like I walked passed many Twitter friends without even knowing lol

As a new blogger, The Bloggers Hangout event was really cool, and a great way to interact with brands I wouldn’t have, from behind a screen.

Have you been to a Bloggers Hangout event? Do you recommend any other blogger events? Hit me up x

Liebster Award – I’ve Been Nominated!

I’ve been trying to write this post for 3 days now, life has just been hectic, but I’m so happy to finally be doing it!

The lovely Kat from Kat Today and Laura from Laura Living Life, kindly awarded me with the Liebster award – I’m still chuffed that people other than my mum and sister read my blog, so it’s amazing to me that Kat, all the way from Oz  and Laura found by little old blog in the sea of millions.

Im so grateful, that they had a peruse and thought of me when recommending me for this award – I haven’t been blogging for long so it’s nice for my content to be appreciated, so go check them out and show some love over on their blogs! They both have amazing style, great beauty reviews, and interesting opinion pieces… and Laura has some rather hilarious parenting posts, I love reading and i don’t even have a little one yet!

Over the past few weeks I’ve seen a lot about the Liebstar Award across many blogs I follow and across Twitter. It’s a brilliant idea to promote new blogs and get to know others within the blogging community, so I’m glad to get the chance to take the part in nominating my fave blogs – although a lot of them have already been nominated.

So the way this award is set up is that I answer questions sent over by Kat and Laura, and then nominate another 11 bloggers who I think are deserving of this award and send them 11 questions to answer! Lets get this show on the road…

Kats 11 questions for me:

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging for many reasons. I’ve wanted to start a blog for years now, and I kept on putting it off – what did I have to offer that wasn’t out there already? After working nearly a year non stop 9-5 I was getting demotivated. My life was just wake up eat, work, eat, sleep (high importance for the eat bit lol) So i thought it was time I did something for myself. I’ve taken up so many hobbies in the last few months, but I never stuck to them as they weren’t things I was really passionate about. My boyfriend kept on encouraging me to blog, so I took the plunge. I was initially so nervous as I hated promoting my writing, but getting to know the blogging community – I love it!

What is your most prized possession?
I would have to say my phone, which is really sad when you think about it, but, it literally has everything I need to get through the day. If I happen to leave it at home by accident, I have to turn back and get it, no matter where I am. The more I type the more I’m realising how sad my dependence on my phone is– bring back the days when I didn’t care if I had credit to phone people much less tweet!

Which of your blog posts are you most proud of?
I have to say I’m proud of all of the blog posts I put out. To some reading my blog, they may have their faves, but, I do put a great amount of time and thought into every single post, so it’s nice when I get comments, like, retweets and all that jazz.

What do you admire most about yourself?
I have a great work ethic. I also get quite a few comments about my lips, which is weird but I like my lips so yeah…

What does a normal day in your life look like?
During the week my days are very monotonous. I wake up at 6:30, jump in the shower, get ready for work, leave my 7:15, drive to work, work, have lunch around 2:30 (this is normally have a soup/ pub lunch or a cheeky nandos), finish off some work tasks, drive home, get in around 7:30 chill with the fam for about an hour & have dinner, write a blog post/ join a twitter chat, FaceTime bae, then go sleep. Bored? Yeah, so am I!

Number one wardrobe essential?
For me it’s comfy pair of jeans. I live in jeans 24/7 so I always invest in good quality jeans. I love G star, but they’re quite pricey. Topshop is another favourite, but I do want to treat myself to a nice pair of levi’s

Best mistake you’ve ever made?
I have no idea- guess I’m just perfect!

What is a piece of advice you’d like to share?

Laura’s 11 questions for me:

How long have you been blogging and what made you start?
I’ve been blogging for less that 3 weeks!I’ve wanted to start a blog for years now, and I kept on putting it off – what did I have to offer that wasn’t out there already? After working nearly a year non stop 9-5 I was getting demotivated. My life was just wake up eat, work, eat, sleep (high importance for the eat bit lol) So i thought it was time I did something for myself. I’ve taken up so many hobbies in the last few months, but I never stuck to them as they weren’t things I was really passionate about. My boyfriend kept on encouraging me to blog, so I took the plunge. I was initially so nervous as I hated promoting my writing, but getting to know the blogging community – I love it!

Describe yourself in 3 words?
Confident. Kind. Reserved.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?
I see myself in a better job, with a  successful blog, travelling the world with my boyfriend who better be my husband – hint hint lol (I am joking, really)

What is your favourite holy grail product?
So I would say my MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation, and my Body Shop Camomile Makeup Remover.

High street or highend fashion?
High Street. I can’t afford high end. Yet!

What is your favourite meal?
That’s so hard, I LOVE food! It has to be Spaghetti Bolognese

Who are your top 3 Vloggers?
Another Girl’s Life, Tasha Green & Samantha Maria – Cant get enough of ’em!

Who are your top 3 bloggers?
Another Girl’s Life, Gracie Victory & Coco’s Tea Party

Where is one place you would like to visit?
I would love to visit either Jamaica or Ghana next, they’ve been on my list for too long!

If a celebrity had to play your life, who would you want it to be?
I have no idea! Tessa Thompson or a young Lauryn Hill from Sister Act 2 days

So now it’s my turn to nominate 11 bloggers… I choose

Exploring Borough Market

I’ve lived in London all my life and as I’ve gotten older I’ve realised how much I take my city for granted, which is why I made exploring London one of my not so new New Year resolutions.

At the beginning of the year, my boyfriend and I made a pact not to travel anywhere abroad (Although, I really don’t know how long this will last though, as we’ve both been roaming the travel websites lol) As a result, I decided it would be a good time to explore London and visit places that I’ve heard people always talk about, and experience these places for myself.

As a self proclaimed foodie, there was only one stop that I had in mind!

Borough Market
I can’t believe I’ve never been!

I’ve heard people talk about Borough Market many times before, and I’ve heard nothing but good things… especially about the food, so I thought it was about time I got my arse down there.

I’m a major fan of Shoreditch, so I began my day there. My first stop  obviously involved coffee, and as Shoreditch has a lot to offer in this area, I was really spoilt for choice. I ended up having brekkie in a little gem called All Press, which was just opposite Barbour & Parlour – another great eatery if you know the area.

After a few snaps around BoxPark and a full belly, I got myself on a bus and soon found… or rather smelled Borough Market!

It was all hustle and bustle despite it only being a little past 12, but I was ready.

There was so much happening at once, and while I’m not a fan of crowds, which is one of the main reasons I hate going into London, there was so much happening, so many smells to take in and people around that just wanted to get involved.

When I first got there, I didn’t know where to go, I ended up going with the crowd and literally walked from one end to the other, without looking at anything!

BM2

After deciding on how to tackle the market, I went in again, looking at everything, tasting and trying different foods and of course taking pics. The colours were amazing, and there were foods from all over the world being offered.

The only thing I could compare it to was the market in Barcelona – La Ramblas… however I found it had less variety.

BM4

Walking through was so strange. The market is quite tourist driven, and people from all over the world had come to taste foods that originate from their countries lol… I guess its all about the experience, ay.

Borough Market offered, everything from food, delicacies, flowers, plants, haircuts and pampering, just EVERYTHING!

BM12

I could have eaten everything! Just look how good the food looked.

BM9

This Tomato and Pesto Focaccia was delicious, cannot go wrong with a bit of pesto!

BM13

I loved that you could see the stall owners prepare the foods right in front of you – mouthwatering!

Im not a big cook, but I could imagine how tasty this fish would have been… I’m a sucker for any type of prawn dishes.

After about 2 hours of roaming and tasting, I left with some Italian goodies, and some good Gouda cheese!

Borough Market did not disappoint, but I do feel I need to go again, as I have a sneaky feeling I missed a few things.

I hate that it’s taken me so long, but I highly recommend visiting the market if you love food, plus, because it’s near a lot of other places like BoxPark and Spitafields market, it can make a good day out in Central London.

I think the next thing on my list is doing a London Food/ Coffee tour!

Have any of you guys visited Borough Market, if so did you love or loathe it? Also, do you have any recommendations on where I should visit next? X
