Double Tap That: Five To Follow

Hey ya’ll,

I can’t lie, but right now I am loving Instagram, it’s my favourite app to scroll through, which is probably why I’ve been neglecting this blogπŸ™ˆ. Only God know how many times I scroll through Instagram a day, but I just can’t resist exploring amazing images and finding new people to follow.

Now I know there’s been a lot of controversy about Instas ever-changing and very annoying algorithms, like-bots, spam comments and all that malarkey, but let’s face it, we all love to double-tap that…

With Instagram being a MainStage for Influencers and bloggers to become recognised or as we all like to say – Instafamous, I’ve got more than a few favourites that I’d like to share, so let me show some love to…

It’s undeniable that Sade has a way with the camera. Perfectly portraying her love affair with vintage fashion her photos are infused with a nostalgic warm twist. I love that we get to see Sade’s confident and elegantly cool personality relayed through the lense too. With her good sense of fashion and great coffee spots what more could you want from life?

Using natural backdrops, vibrant colours, colourful food and beautiful subjects she’s is dubbed as a visual storyteller. This girl is living life, all while looking like a melinated supermodel and I love double-tapping whenever she uploads.

I’m back on my 3-4 times a week gym grind and as you may imagine, it’s way too easy to fall off, especially with all these food snaps. Nevertheless, I love searching hashtags like #fitness to keep me on the straight and narrow to achieving my body goals, but one person I always look to is Chanel. She is all types of body goals and I love that she takes us on her fitness journey that she has perfectly made her lifestyle, she’s the ultimate motivation for me, plus I love her clean and feminine feed.

My girl Chidi is killing it! She oozes beauty and fearlessness and on the few occasions I met her she has been a positive energy that I can’t get enough of. Follow this beaut for encouraging hella funny quotes, fire selfies and the odd travel post. Love her.

I follow way too many creative Instgram pages to pay homage to, but these are the feeds are just a few that I’ve just kept on coming back to. Leave comment and let me know who you’ve been loving on Insta, so I can give them a nosy, also feel free to give me a follow x

Life Update & How I De-Stress

Hiya,

It’s been a while, but I’ve got exciting news to share – I’ve got a new job! πŸŽ‰πŸ’·

It’s been a long time coming and I’m super excited to start the next chapter in my career, but since finding out, and telling my current employer that I’m leaving the company, plus sorting out my whole big hand-over, it has been nothing short of stressful.

It’s weird how such exciting news can quickly turn into a daunting process πŸ˜‘ πŸ˜’

Thoughts like; How the hell am I going to tell my manager? Am I meant to look upset or be more apologetic that I’m moving on to different and better pastures? Should I give up a great opportunity? – kept popping into my head, and I found myself quickly stressed with not a clue of what to do. There really should be a handbook for dummies on the subject.

I’ll be starting my new adventure towards the end of the month, but before I can really enjoy and bask in my excitement I’ve got a mammoth job of creating a ton of content before I leave, and to be totally honest it’s all just too much to deal with.

So, if you’re like me and are transitioning into new waters, here’s my tips on how to deal with stress at work…

Plenty of breaks. This point has been said a bazillion times, but it’s totally true, and while I’ve got even more work to do, I’ve found myself stepping away from my desk a little bit more, to take a stroll, make a coffee, and just talk to people. As I stare at computer screen for most of the day, it helps me to take a break from the harsh computer light and take my mind off of my ever growing work load.

Drink lots of Water. Water refreshes and hydrates and to be totally honest with you a nice cold glass of water is calming. It keeps me alert and when I’m rushed off my feet. It’s crazy what a simple glass of water can do.

Make Music Work. When I arrive at work the first thing I do is put on 1xtra in my browser and plug in my head phones. It helps me disconnect, focus and helps me relax as I’m listening to music I love. Plus, it means I’m not distracted by stupid office politics and it means people don’t disturb you unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Side note: Do you have any albums you’re loving atm? Solange’s new album ‘A Seat At The Table’ and Wretch 32 ‘Growing Over Life’ have been on replay!

A Lovely Bubble Bath. I try and not to take any work home with me – mentally & physically. I also really try not to dwell on things that have really bothered me throughout the day, so once I’ve got home, I like to take some time to myself, grab a cup of tea, chill in a warm bubbly bath using with a Lush bath bomb and turn on an episode of Narcos – the perfect relaxing evening!

Enjoy Exercise. I’m sure many of my loyal readers know that I go to the gym, but throughout the month of September I took on a massive challenge of running 26.2 miles for The British Heart Foundation, which meant running at least 2 miles every night. Although it was tough, I’ve tried to continue running a couple times a week as it gives me something to look forward to and actually helps me to de-stress, which I guess is due to my body releasing endorphins. After each session I  actually feel happy and proud of my accomplishments which is a plus!

Reading & Instagram Scrolling. This is a weird de-stressing mechanism I use, but escaping to another place through a book or looking at amazing imagery really helps me chill out and relax. I guess being a serial Instagram scroller has its perks πŸ˜‚

Do you have any tips on how to handle stress levels? Have you ever had to deal with an awkward resignation? Let me know…

Sephora Haul + Morphe 350 Palette

It’s been ages since I’ve done a makeup haul, but it’s with good reason, this one’s pretty special!

I had the opportunity to go to Sephora (eek!) while I was away in Dubai, and boy was I like a little girl in a candy store!

Although, I hauled these items a while ago, I’ve had them in my collection, used them, and have fallen deeply in love with all of them. So take a peep at what I got…

So, when I first entered the world renowned Sephoraaaa, I literally grabbed a basket and started putting everything that I’ve seen my fave YouTubers use, but as soon as I hit the counter to pay and I saw 850 dirhams, and knew some of my ‘must-have items’ needed to be back on the shelf.

It was a very tough choice, but this is what I came out with…

After much deliberation, I ended up with these products 😍.

The Makeup Eraser. I had never heard of the makeup eraser before, but I was sucked in lol. Sometimes I am terrible at taking off makeup at the end of a long day, so this sounded like an amazing product. The makeup eraser is a really clever creation, it has two sides, one that’s rough (exfoliator) and one that’s smooth. Once drenched in water and rubbed on to the face it immediately takes off all the makeup, and it’s instantly shown on the back of the cloth. It can be used and washed up to 1000 times,Β and I’ve loved using it when I’m feeling a tad lazy. So products, no mess and simple to use!Β Can makeup removal get any easier?

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick. There was a short-lived trend with metallic lipstick and I really loved that it could take a makeup look from desk to dinner. The new Vice collection by Urban Decay has so many metallic options that I’m surprised I only left with one, but I ended up choosingΒ CruelΒ – it has a beautiful combination of rose and gold tones along with a delicate sparkle, which can be built upon.

Huda Beauty Lip Contour. Ever since getting into beauty through instagram, Huda beauty has been a major influence, plus she’s so beautiful! When her matte liquid lipsticks and lip contours released on Cult Beauty I had all the colours in my basket, but didn’t commit just incase they didm’t suit meΒ πŸ™ˆ. But when I tried them in Sephora they were all amazing, I’m actually upset I didn’t get the lipstick – my sister did though 😜.Β I picked the colour Famous – ‘cos that’s what we’re all tryna be right? Β The colour is a beautiful wine colour with deep pink and brown undertones, it’s very pigmented and the coverage is immense. The texture of the pencil applies smoothly leaving the lips feeling moisturised, which is rare for a matte pencil. Here’s what it looks like…

sephora5

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.Β Yet again, I’ve been lusting after this eyeliner since… forever! Since losing my Benefit They’re Real Liner, I really wanted to try this cult product. I remember watching Kat Von D on TV and her makeup always looked bang on point, especially her winged liner. And no wonder, this eyeliner is so precise and jet black, plus the formula lasts all day. The pen itself is super thin, but what I love is that you can move the brush in different ways to create a thinΒ and thick lines fluidly and with ease – something that’s so hard to achieve with other eyeliners.

Sephora Waterproof Eye Pencil.Β I think the blue eyeliner trend is wayyy gone, but I couldn’t help myself getting a royal blue (29 – My Boyfriend’s Jeans) The colour is flawless and super pigmented. The crayon itself applies really well and has a luxurious velvety feel which is surprising as it’s only Sephora brand! I would definitely recommend Sephora branded products as they seem to be high quality. Have you tried any?

As I got a little spendy in Sephora, I told myself that I’d calm down with makeup buys, but aΒ few weeks ago, I was sitting at my desk at work, scrolling through Instagram, minding my own business when I came across Beauty Bays post.

They had just restocked the Morphe 350 palette. I literally gasped out loud, and hopped onto the beauty bay website to purchase. Ever since seeing a beauty look done with this palette onΒ xoxoshanta_ Instagram (check her out, her makeup is dope) I knew I needed to have it in my life, but it was sold out everywhere. I signed up to waiting lists on every beauty website and regularly checked, so when beauty bay had them back in stock, I needed to get my hands on it – and to be completely honest getting 35 different eyeshadows for Β£19 is an absolute bargain!

sephora11
Isn’t she beautiful? Also wearing shades from this palette on my lids.

My first Morphe purchase couldn’t be any perfect lol. It’s just so beaut – the colour that enticed me to get it is the orange eyeshadow, as it’s my fave colour and I hadn’t seen anything similar anywhere else, but playing around with the different colours I’ve fallen in love with it even more. Here are a few of my faves swatched…

sephora10

Have you hauled from Sephora before, what did you get? Also, have you been lucky enough to get your hands on the Morphe 350 palette, what are your thoughts?

See you on my next post x
