Tartelette 2 In Bloom Eyeshadow Palette Review

Recently I’ve taken a back seat with new beauty products on the scene, I am seriously lost with what products I should be buying and what products I need to leave on the shelf, but one product I treated myself to a few weeks go is the Tartelette 2 In Bloom palette and it is one that I am seriously impressed with.

Let me start by saying – My name is Rianne, and I am a beauty hoarder. Honestly, I have about 3 drawers filled to the brim with beauty products that I have never used, but have bought because they look pretty in the packaging (I really ought to go through them and see what gems I can find).

I thought it was time to treat myself to some new eye shadows as I had been using my MAC Burgundy x9 eyeshadow palette to death – to be honest it’s one of the best palettes I’ve ever bought, but it was time to find something else, that was just as good, after all there’s only so many colour combos you can come up with 9 shadows.

I am a sucker for bronze/neutral shades, so when I heard about the Tarte palette I was sold. This luxurious palette comes with 12 beautiful shades, but let me start with the packaging – every girl’s kryptonite.

Tarte got it so right with the packaging of this palette. As you can see it’s super ‘girly’ covered in a floral print which is fitting as it is called ‘In Bloom’. The palette comes in a shiny cardboard packaging, and once opened it reveals the smooth, hard gold casing the same floral print on top. Absolutely beautiful!

Open it up and you are greeted with a huge mirror. I feel that all eye shadow palettes should come with a mirror – it should just be part and parcel, because when you’re on the go it makes things so much easier – plus it really adds to its luxuriousness.

Directly underneath the mirror is the jackpot. 12 NEW and undeniably beautiful hues, 9 matte shades, perfect for creating a day to day look, great for work, plus 3 shimmery lustrous shadows that can effortlessly turn any look into a more glamorous one, perfect for a night time soiree.

Colours from right to left: Firecracker, Rocker, Leader, Rebel

My most used and favourite colours are the ones swatched, how beautiful are they?

The shadows in this Tarte palette are so dense and a little goes a long way, the colours are so pigmented and blend so well, especially when applied with Tartes double-ended eyeshadow brush (I swear by this brush), which disperses the product easily, evenly and with minimum effort for a sleek look that lasts longer and allows you to precisely place product for a symmetrical look.

Each shadow is made with Amazonian clay – ‘a nutrient rich clay is extracted from the banks of the Amazon River where the nutrients are at their highest concentration. As nature’s most perfect ingredient, this multitasking and total skin balancing clay has been known to remove surface oil and mattify skin, nourish all skin types and give skin an overall smooth and even appearance.  Can we just take a moment to appreciate the pigments of these eyeshadows.’

I am seriously in love with this palette and impressed with how much I use it. The colours are insanely dense and pigmented and I love that these colours can also be used with MAC’s x9 palette. I bought this from QVC (which shouldn’t be slept on if you’re looking for American branded beauty at affordable prices) for £35 which is a little pricey, but you definitely get your moneys worth.

Have you tried this palette, what are you first impressions?

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick Review

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’ve been obsessed with lip products lately, just check out some of my latest posts.

To be totally honest with you all, being this obsessed with tracking down the ‘right’ colour is a blessing and a curse – a blessing because I’m trying so many new lip products, many good, many terrible and a curse because purse is looking hunger!

I’ve been on the hunt… and I really do mean HUNT for the perfect nude/pink lipsticks ideal for women of colour. I have had so many lipstick fails over the months – I have to say I am so done with matte lippies for the minute! And after failing to bag a Kylie Lip Kit again I thought it was time to give up on that dream and try something different!

After writing my High End Beauty Wishlist, I continued with my research into different brands and I was re-introduced to Tarte.

I initially heard of Tarte when I worked at QVC, but never really gave the brand anytime, but, after seeing a few bloggers talk about their Tarte products and them wanting to try their glorious new range, I peeped their dreamy new collection, Rainforest of the Sea, I decided to take the plunge and go after some of their lip ‘saviours’.

I really didn’t know what kind of products to pick, as I was buying online – it’s so difficult to find shades that are true to their real life appearance… but I confidently went for their High Performance Naturals – a quad set of Amazonian Lip Butters.

So you may be wondering why I did this to myself… AGAIN but the description for these lipsticks were on point, here’s what it said:

“Inspired by the whimsical colors of the Amazon and infused with naturally-derived ingredients from its lush vegetation, these Amazonian butter lipsticks add a splash of rich color and creamy shine for a perfect pout.”

…I mean how could I not?!

Plus, all of their products are made without: Parabens, mineral oil, Phthalates, Triclosan, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and Gluten and dermatologist tested!

But, what really drew me to this set was the names of the lipsticks, they’re named after exotic gemstones; Garenet, Ruby, Quartz and Topaz… I was sold and if you’re wondering why, I work in the jewellery industry and I love each of the gems for different reasons.

When I received my goodies (insert Ciara song) the packaging was lovely, so golden and shimmery and when I opened the small box package it was like looking into a garden (without sounding too cheesy).

The packaging of each lipstick is made out of cardboard, deepening the meaning of the lipsticks Amazonian blend, and each of the packaging is adorned with a pretty floral/filigree design.

I jumped right in and swatched every colour and I was really happy with how they looked against my skin, although, I have to admit my fave is Garnet, it’s the perfect pink nude with just enough sheen.

Colours in order: Garnet, Topaz, Quartz and Ruby

Each lipstick is true to the title – holding a very buttery blend that glides onto your lip and really moistrises. They  also don’t really have a strong scent but they do have a vague refreshing minty smell, which is not overpowering or off putting, but a nice addition since it’s these lipsticks have taken out ‘bad’ ingredients and instead used natural ones.

You might have noticed that these lipsticks are not bolds but exactly as their name hints -Natural. They give a lovely sheer colour to your lip without being too ‘in your face’. These lipsticks also have great staying power and I can go all day without having to re-apply! It’s all you ever really want in a lipstick to be fair!

For £26 this set of 4 lipsticks has been a steal! Especially when I think of Mac selling one lippie for £15! They are perfectly coloured for darker girls who want to try a nude or a pink, and they are perfectly sized as I will probably use the colours before I get bored of the shades.

I have been wearing the Garnet shade non stop this week as I feel it is the standout shade in the collection, however, the amazing quality of these lipsticks have made me excited to try out some more.

With that being said will you be trying this spring forward quad? Have you tried any Tarte cosmetics, how did you find them? If you want to see what these lippies actually look like on my lips head over to my Instagram for some cheeky snaps!

Eyeko Review

Hey lovelies, as you may already know, I’m a huge fan of Eyeko, their products are actually amazing, so I was so excited to bag some more of their goodies in the ASOS sale to do a review!

In my previous post, February Face, I mentioned that I religiously use Eyeko’s Black Magic mascara as it curls and defines my lashes… I’ve tried so many other brands, but honestly I only recommend this mascara, as its that good.

With mascara’s I’ve used in the past, I find they clump my lashes, making them look vile and quite spidery. I’ve never been a big wearer of mascara as I suffer from styes, however, after trying Eyeko’s Black Magic, I’ve found that I havent suffered with any, and I personally put that down to their specialist products – but, maybe that’s just my wishful thinking.

Since I’ve loved the Eyeko mascara for so long, but never tried any of their other products, I thought it would be a good time to try some others out… especially as good ole ASOS had 20% OFF 😉

I opted for two different products which promised to really make my eyes pop. ASOS have quite a good selection, however, if you go to Eyeko’s site, you get 20% off your first order and you can browse their whole selection. Anyway, I digress. I opted for Eyeko’s FAT liquid liner & Black Magic Lash Boost.

SONY DSC

My makeup collection was in need of a new black eyeliner. I was loving Benefit’s They’re Real Eye Liner, but it was a bit fiddly to use and when I’m in a rush in the morning, its just not the one, so I thought I’d give it a try. This pen is exactly what I was looking for. Its like a sharpie – easy to use with pointed tip for a hassle free application, plus its an eyeliner that you can build, so you can start with a really thin line, and build its thickness from there… something not so easy to do with Benefit’s one. Perfecto!

SONY DSC

The second item I bought was Eyeko’s Black Magic Lash Boost. As ASOS doesn’t have good descriptions about their products online, I thought I’d gamble with this product. As I already own the Black Magic Mascara, I thought this product would work perfectly alongside it, working more of a lash conditioner, to help lengthen my short lashes.

To my confusion, when I opened this package, it wasn’t a conditioner at all. This product is not of any liquid consistency, which I found baffling, I can only describe it as little fibres in a bottle.

After reading the description on Eyeko’s website I learned that these fibres attach to your lashes and help boost the length of them, hence the name – straight forward then… errrm, yeah right!

SONY DSC

I already had on makeup and a tiny bit of mascara, but that was OK. The Lash Boost needs to be applied on top of mascara for the fibres to stick – clever technology ay! I started to apply the fibres to the tips of my lashes as recommended but the fallout was crazy, the fibres created so much mess.

SONY DSC

As you can see my eyelids have loads of little ‘hairs’ on them. What you’re actually seeing are the fibres. After applying the Lash Boost, I just noticed hairs everywhere which was quite annoying. If I had actually slayed my makeup I would not have been happy,as the fibres would have ruined the look. Eyeko do warn about this problem, saying that they’re easy to brush off as they don’t stick but I didn’t find it was easy.

If anything, I would recommend using this product before anything else, but to be totally honest, I’m quite put off, as the fibres ended up really irritating my eyes, and I just looked like a hot mess (not happy)

SONY DSC

After trying to clean up, I finished my adding another layer of mascara. You can keep on adding fibres and mascara alternately until you achieve your desired length, but after, all the irritation and mess, I gave up lol.

However, after just one application of Lash Boost I was pleasantly surprised… so i guess it wasn’t all bad. As I naturally have short lashes, using the combination of the Lash Boost and Black Magic Mascara I can honestly say I see a difference. What do you think?

SONY DSC

To finish off, I tested out the FAT Liquid Liner and I loved using it! It’s soooo easy to use, it’s precise and can be built upon. I only tested a thin line, but I’ve been using it every day since I bought it. Unlike other eyeliners I’ve bought, it lasts throughout the day, and stays matte.

The Lash Boost has been a disappointing product for me, however, Eyeko’s mascara and eyeliner will continue to be a staple in my makeup collection, as their products do work and are quite innovative and fun to use.

Do you own any Eyeko products, what’s your favourite and will you be buying any of these? Let me know x
