Brow Game Strong with Benefit

This is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down and I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there, I’ll tell you how…my brow game is now strong with Benefit *dab*

bene event
Precisely My Brow Pencil used on my brows for Not On The High Street Christmas in July event

So, last week I went to the Bloggers Hangout event and in the midst of doing my makeup my MAC eyebrow pencil ran out. FFS! Such convenient timing ey!

Has this ever happened to you before? I was literally in a state of panic, how could I go to an event with one eyebrow?! The search began for anything else that could possibly fill in my right brow.

After rummage around my makeup stash, I was sweating my already done makeup off, but I  found an alternative – my brow zing palette from Benefit. Hallelujah! I used to use this brow palette years ago, when bold brows started to become a thing, but kinda just discovered other things. I remembered I really liked it as it was so easy to use and I liked that it had both a wax and a powder.

Each brow looked slightly different, but I finished off, sealed my right brow with some hope and concealer and left for the event.

While I was out I knew that I needed another pencil, but of course there wasn’t a MAC store in sight, so I settled on Superdrug where I found a really good eyebrow pencil by L’oreal. I would have never thought to try such a product but I was actually surprised at how good the quality was, plus had a wax pencil on the other end and it was only £5 so I couldn’t go wrong. Or so I thought (btw. I am getting to the Benefit products lol)

I used the pencil about three times, before I had to sharpen it (why isn’t every eyebrow pencil self-sharpening?) When I started sharpening it, I didn’t stop, the pencil kept breaking. I literally had nothing left. Luckily the same day, ASOS (good ole asos) sent me a 20% discount code, and long story short I treated myself to a few Benefit products.

I don’t actually know why I stopped using the Brow Zing eyebrow palette, but this new Benefit eyebrow range has got me hooked again. They just do the most with their packaging and after reading plenty of reviews I decided to take the plunge.

I was a bit dubious with ordering an eyebrow pencil online as I didn’t know what colour to get- there are currently six shades to choose from, but after going back and forth for about an hour I chose- Dark 5 – which was a the perfect shade for me – Not too dark and not too ashy.

ben2

I ended up buying 3 cool brow products: Precisely My Brow Pencil, Goof Proof Brow Pencil and Ready Set Brow.

Once they arrived I so excited to open them up. Isn’t the packaging EVERYTHING? I love that they make creating the perfect brow a magical experience through the packaging alone.

Once taken out of the cardboard packaging I was left even more thrilled. The products just looked so pretty and sassy with its sleek silver finish – It left me wanting to do my eyebrows lol.

So far I’ve been really impressed with the quality of each product, although, I’ve never been disappointed with Benefit. My favourite product has to be Precisely My Brow Pencil, which was actually described as a pen on ASOS. I thought I’d prefer the Goof Proof Pencil but this one has a much smaller tip, that lets you create a precise brow shape. I’m so heavy handed so it suits me well as I initially used the Goof Proof, but when I too a step back from the mirror my brows looked way too bold.

ben7

After playing around with the two pencils, I would definitely say that the Precisely My Brow Pencil is my new go-to simply because I cant get too carried away with it, plus I think if you’re like me and still get your brows done, it will accentuate the shape more naturally.

benefit brows
Using Precisely My Brow Pencil

However, I would say the Goof Proof Brow Pencil is really nice to use as it has a angled tip, perfect for adding a sharp arch or a fluid curve to the brow. This pencil would be great for me if I’m going out and want to make a strong statement with a cool eye makeup look.

ben6

I also feel that the quality of the pencils are so much better for my skin than MAC’s eyebrow pencil. As I’ve got oily skin I feel MAC’s eyebrow pencils creamy consistency makes my eyebrows look shiny. However, although Benefits pencils have a nice consistency which allows them to glide over your brows easily, and when set with the Ready Set Brow gel it lasts all day, without smudging of sliding (even in hot weather)

I’ve never thought to use a brow gel, but after using the Ready Set Brow, I’ve seen the light. The gel is easily and neatly applied using a comb and once applied doesn’t go hard when it dries, which has always been a thought that’s turned me off.

Each pencil was around £18 on ASOS, which is quite steep, especially as MAC’s pencils can be bought for £15, but they can be bought at a cheaper price at QVC. Saying this I feel you get more for your money, as the pencil seems to be longer and you get a spooky at the end of them too – how thoughtful!

If you’re looking for a brow alternative, or wan a give the new Benefit brow range a go, I would highly recommend. Think of it as an investment in your brows lol.

Have you tried this range? What are your thoughts?

Would you rather? | The Beauty Tag Edition

Everyone has played Would you rather…? at some point in their life. I’ve always chickened out when it comes to me answering any type of embarrassing question, but as I’ve been seeing this beauty tag doing it’s rounds on the blogs, I thought why not give it a go, some of you guys answers are sooo funny! I’ve loved reading people’s tag, so I hope mine are just as entertaining for ya…

1.Would you rather wear foundation that’s five shades too light or foundation that’s five shades too dark?

I would definitely wear a foundation that’s five shades too dark. I would much more prefer being darker than what I am, than trying to be lighter, plus, I really don’t think anyone would notice – My lipgloss be poppin’ and my melanin on fleek!

2. Have one eyebrow for a week, or apply lipstick to the outside of your lips, clown style for a week?

I actually LOL’d when I saw this question. Let’s be honest, it would be one hell of an embarrassing week if I picked either, but I think I’d rather have one eyebrow. Can you imagine the looks I’d get with lipstick applied outside my already full lips. Nah mate, I’ll pass.

3.Would you rather wear one lip colour for the rest of your life, or wear one hair colour for the rest of your life?

This one’s easy. One hair colour. After all the trouble I’ve had with my hair and trying to colour it, I’d gladly take one even hair tone any day #sadtimes

4.Would you rather have free shopping spree in Boots or have a free shopping spree in MAC?

Is this even a question? Boots! Boots has to be everyone’s choice. They have a diverse range of makeup brands that I can experiment with. Plus, I’m not here for the rudeness you often get in MAC.

5.Would you rather sneeze every time you put on mascara or always have lipstick on your teeth?

Haha. This had me in deep thought. It’s a painful choice but I go for sneeze every time I put on mascara. I have OCD when it comes to mine and others teeth. It’s so cringe when I see things stuck or in other peoples teeth. Like when’s the right time to say – ‘oh, you’ve got something there’ -AWKWARD

6.Would you rather be stuck with the same makeup forever OR be stuck with the same clothes forever?

If I perfect my ideal everyday makeup look, I’d gladly stick with the same makeup forever, but I’m always at a loss for what to wear even when I’m chilling at home, so I’d much rather be able to buy new clothes when I want.

7.Would you rather have your favourite eye shadow palette smash on the floor or have your favourite lipstick discontinued?

I have a serious love for my Tarte In Bloom 2 palette right now and if that broke I’d genuinely be devastated – I recently had a near miss. The palette is too nice (and expensive) for it to just shatter. I’ll rather have my favourite lippie discontinued – there’s a dupe somewhere out there.

8.Would you rather always have your makeup look like it does at the end of the night or do your makeup in bad lighting?

I’ll take a pass on my sweaty, shiny, end of night face and do my makeup in bad lighting. I kinda already do that, my bedroom has very little natural light.

9. If you had $1000 to spend, would rather spend it all on makeup OR on clothes?

Clothes, more specifically a designer bag, which clothes my arm… no?

10.Would you rather shave your eyebrows and never have them OR sharpie them in every day?

Sharpie all the way. Ain’t nobody got time for NO eyebrows. If I got a fine point brown sharpie, I’m sure I could nail light strokes and perfect a fleecy eyebrow

If you liked, I tag you! See you on my next one x

Tartelette 2 In Bloom Eyeshadow Palette Review

Recently I’ve taken a back seat with new beauty products on the scene, I am seriously lost with what products I should be buying and what products I need to leave on the shelf, but one product I treated myself to a few weeks go is the Tartelette 2 In Bloom palette and it is one that I am seriously impressed with.

T4

Let me start by saying – My name is Rianne, and I am a beauty hoarder. Honestly, I have about 3 drawers filled to the brim with beauty products that I have never used, but have bought because they look pretty in the packaging (I really ought to go through them and see what gems I can find).

I thought it was time to treat myself to some new eye shadows as I had been using my MAC Burgundy x9 eyeshadow palette to death – to be honest it’s one of the best palettes I’ve ever bought, but it was time to find something else, that was just as good, after all there’s only so many colour combos you can come up with 9 shadows.

I am a sucker for bronze/neutral shades, so when I heard about the Tarte palette I was sold. This luxurious palette comes with 12 beautiful shades, but let me start with the packaging – every girl’s kryptonite.

Tarte got it so right with the packaging of this palette. As you can see it’s super ‘girly’ covered in a floral print which is fitting as it is called ‘In Bloom’. The palette comes in a shiny cardboard packaging, and once opened it reveals the smooth, hard gold casing the same floral print on top. Absolutely beautiful!

T5

Open it up and you are greeted with a huge mirror. I feel that all eye shadow palettes should come with a mirror – it should just be part and parcel, because when you’re on the go it makes things so much easier – plus it really adds to its luxuriousness.

Directly underneath the mirror is the jackpot. 12 NEW and undeniably beautiful hues, 9 matte shades, perfect for creating a day to day look, great for work, plus 3 shimmery lustrous shadows that can effortlessly turn any look into a more glamorous one, perfect for a night time soiree.

T7
Colours from right to left: Firecracker, Rocker, Leader, Rebel

My most used and favourite colours are the ones swatched, how beautiful are they?

The shadows in this Tarte palette are so dense and a little goes a long way, the colours are so pigmented and blend so well, especially when applied with Tartes double-ended eyeshadow brush (I swear by this brush), which disperses the product easily, evenly and with minimum effort for a sleek look that lasts longer and allows you to precisely place product for a symmetrical look.

Each shadow is made with Amazonian clay – ‘a nutrient rich clay is extracted from the banks of the Amazon River where the nutrients are at their highest concentration. As nature’s most perfect ingredient, this multitasking and total skin balancing clay has been known to remove surface oil and mattify skin, nourish all skin types and give skin an overall smooth and even appearance.  Can we just take a moment to appreciate the pigments of these eyeshadows.’

T6

I am seriously in love with this palette and impressed with how much I use it. The colours are insanely dense and pigmented and I love that these colours can also be used with MAC’s x9 palette. I bought this from QVC (which shouldn’t be slept on if you’re looking for American branded beauty at affordable prices) for £35 which is a little pricey, but you definitely get your moneys worth.

Have you tried this palette, what are you first impressions?

Follow me on Snapchat(RiRi9316), I would love to get to know you x

My Colourpop Catastrophe + Haul!

This sudden burst of sunshine here in the UK is giving me all types of lyf right now, and when the sun is out and my playlist is poppin’, I love to dress up in maxi dress, put my hair in a bun and make sure my make up is looking fleeky.

Wearing makeup in the sun can be a tricky art to master, which is why I like to keep it tres simple with minimalistic base, a pop of colour on the lip and an optional cat eye depending on how high the pollen count is, so everything on my face is kind of a simplified version of my February Face, except what’s on my lips – I’ve turned to colourful side and been sporting Colourpop Cosmetics!

Since immersing myself into the world of beauty blogging, I’ve heard loads of reviews about Colourpop. I had never heard about it before I began blogging, so I thought I’d see what all the fuss was about. The only knowledge I had about Colourpop is that You Tuber -itsmyrayeraye, worked on a collaboration with them and she always mentioned them in her videos – her lips are great too!

After perusing around their hundreds of lipsticks and eye shadows, I was sold. What was not to love, they have an insanely vast collection of colours and finishes and they are so affordable, it was hard to keep control. I decided to treat myself to a few Kaepop products too, as I just love Karrueche’s style and beautiful makeup looks.

colourpop1
Colours from left to right: Kaepop Beverly, Kaepop Wilshire, Kaepop Crenshaw & Kaepop Sunset Blvd
colourpop2
Swatches of each eye shadow. I love that this quad has a mixture of shimmery shadows and more matte bases, which will compliment each other when blended together. Also super pigmented which is always a plus!

I picked out three ultra matte lip products in StingRaye, Bad Habit and Rooch, one Lippie Stix in Lumiere and the Kaepop eyeshadow quad,  but after adding them all to my basket, I found they didn’t ship to the UK 😩.

colourpop3
Colours from left to right: Lumiere, ad Habit, StingRaye & Rooch

After reading some blogs on how to get Colourpop the the UK, I knew it was possible to get the products out here, so I decided that the easiest way to get my goodies delivered was by courier. Many blogs recommended Borderlinx, so I went with this, but long story short, it was more money than it was worth.

If you’re in the UK, you cannot order straight from the Colourpop website, so what I had to do was order via Borderlinx, suing their Personal Shopper service. It was really simple and all you have to do is get the names of all the items you want and send them across with the price, so they can order it for you, however, they charge 5% of whatever the total of your order. My order came to about £30 which wasn’t bad at all, so I went ahead.

I thought this extra charge was a bit of a cheek, but it was only 5% so what the heck. Ha! how wrong I was. After a few days I received confirmation of my order, which would then be sent to borderlinx and then be sent to me, or so I thought. Once it was at borderlinx, I received another email saying I had to pay for shipping to the UK. Whut?! Little did I know shipping cost near £60!

This is where I became Thrifty McThrift, there was just no way I was spending more on shipping than what the actual products were worth. I decided to leave them there until I found a discount code. Discount codes are actual life savers, I always check for them before I buy full price items lol – I know I cant be the only one, there are just too many deals to be had out there.

After waiting about a month and a half for my products, I finally got them. The packaging was so cute and they also left me a little note, which I felt added a nice personal touch.

As you probably know from reading previous posts I am a sucker for lip products point blank, but I’m also  a sucker for matte lippies, and after many fiasco’s of trying to find the perfect matte formula for me, I think Colourpop have won my love.

colour4

The formulas are insane. They don’t feel papery but rather nourishing and they actually dry 100% matte and don’t budge once applied. However, I would say, before applying it is important to prep your lips – exfoliate and moisturise. Once you’ve done this, you’re ready to go.

colourpop6

I am really happy with my Colourpop order. I’m obsessed with these matte lipsticks and the eyeshadows look really pigmented too so watch out for a makeup look on the blog soon!

I also love that Colourpop team up with bloggers and come up with cool colours that we can experiment with, while also display swatches on their website on different skin tones (every makeup brand needs to be doing this), it really does make shopping easier.

In the future I will order more Colourpop goodies, but I don’t think I will use Borderlinx again, simply because of how much it cost to get just a few items. So if any of you beauty bloggers have ordered Coloupop to the UK using an affordable courier, please let me know!!!

I hope you enjoyed, and let me know if you’ve tried any Colourpop makeup treats for yourself, my fave lip colour is Rooch so far, it’s my go to matte lip product and I don’t care that it’s now hot, I will rock this all throughout the summer, as it looks banging on my brown skin *cue India Arie*

5 Hair Products I’m Loving

Hello blogging world, I cant believe it’s been two weeks since my last post *sobs into tissue* – what can I say, life has just got in the way, but, in my time away a lot has happened, one of them being… I am no longer a red head, or more accurately a russet head lol *sobs even more*

I finally took the plunge and dyed my hair chocolate brown. I was scared, but it was long overdue. Being a red head was a stressful time in my life – just take a read of my hair disaster!

No, but in all honesty there was a lot of upkeep that my hair just couldn’t handle, so I decided it was time to go a bit darker and it’s the best decision I could have made, my mum’s immediate reaction was ‘your hair looks so healthy!’ – I don’t think there could have been a clearer sign that I should have went darker a lot sooner.

After making the conscious decision not to go to the hairdressers last year (after my hair mishap) I’ve been loving the freedom I’ve had with experimenting with my locs and exploring new products that have made a real difference in the quality of my hair, so I thought I’d share the hair products I’ve been loving and continually reaching for…

hairproducts4

Monoi Oil is a miracle in a tub… I have high porosity hair, meaning it absorbs water and products quickly, but loses moisture just as quickly and this oil has been the perfect answer for me. Monoi Oil is a leave in conditioning creme and has the beautiful consistency of butter and oil, that I can rub into my locs when it’s wet or dry around 2-3 times a week without any nasty build up or residue. I find this product is perfect for hair that has been dyed as my hair needs to stay moisturised to avoid breakage and this oil definitely helps to avoid that. Made with Coconut oil, it smells beautiful too, so I would definitely recommend it, plus it comes in a big tub so it’s worth its buck.

hairproducts1

Second up is Jamaican Castor Oil. Funnily enough, I initially started using this product in the caribbean. Seeing so many naturalista’s rave about natural Jamaican castor oil really made me want to try it as it had properties stimulated hair growth. Since starting to use this product I’ve gone through two bottles. Embracing your natural hair is hard business especially when everyone’s minds are on how fleeky their edges are these days, but when your hair has been through some trials and tribulations, castor oil is the answer to restore those edges! Have you tried?

hairproducts3

Since starting my dreadlocks I’ve always come back to this Oil. Mango & Lime is a brand that I was first introduced to when I began my locs and their  non-abrasive formulas have been very kind to my hair. Once I wash my hair I go in with this oil and massage it into my scalp. I hate using thick grease on my scalp that leaves a horrible residue, so this oil is perfect if you’re like me and need something that deeply moisturises and sinks in.

hairproducts2

Since I loved the Monoi Oil conditioning creme I had to get myself some of their anti-breakage oil fusion. I’ve found great results using this oil, it comes with a pipette applicator for direct application allowing me to target areas on my scalp and at the end of my hair – really moisturising and tackling breakage, which is something I’m so worried about having dyed my hair multiple times… plus it smells divine.

hairproducts

Lastly, this is my guilty pleasure hair product – a gel. Since a young age I’ve never been a fan of gel as it can cause hair to break, flake and suffocate follicles, which is why i don’t use this all the time. However, since boycotting the salon, I still wanted to achieve goddess like fleekiness when I do my hair at home, and this really allows me to slay my edges. I don’t go all in as this has a very thick consistency, but once I mix with water to kind of dilute it, I find that it lays down any stray and can really neaten up a look. I would recommend only using this product when your hair is wet and the tying down your hair to achieve a slick look, as on dry hair it can pull and damage your hairs. Also, I use this every so often, as I don’t believe locs should be all neat (defeats the whole point of embracing natural hair) but it’s nice if I have an interview or going out on the town.

So, those are the 5 products I’ve been using in my hair for a while, and I’m really enjoying the results. Do you have locs or rock your natural hair? What products would you recommend me using? Also, who are your favourite naturalista’s on Instagram, I need some hair inspiration!

How to Rejuvenate your Life After a Messy Weekend

Hey you lovely lot, you may be wondering where I’ve been over the past week, although I’m sure many of you haven’t even noticed my absence in the blogosphere, but after a mini unscheduled break (000ps!) I’m back at it!

For the first time in forever, I went on girls weekender with my cousins and in all seriousness, it’s taken me a whole week to recover – saying that I still feel a bit stiff.

We took a trip to Southport for a yearly event called Caribbean Weekender and to say the least, it was a crazy 72 hours.. smh

After three days of non stop drinking (I’m not actually a drinker at all), binge eating (at ridiculous times too) and a couple hours sleep, you can only imagine how I felt when I got back to my safe haven – home.

By the time I sat down in relaxation mode, it’s as if everything hit me at once. I caught the flu, my voice had gone, I felt tipsy and my body was aching at the peril of the terrible mattress I laid on and from all the dancing did (I’m not painting a pretty picture am I? I did have a good time though, I promise) but, I needed some major TLC.

So here’s 5 simple steps in which I rejuvenated my LIFE! (A bit dramatic, I know)…

First on my list was getting back into a skincare routine. While I was away my skincare routine went completely out of the window and combined with all the alcohol I consumed, my skin was dehydrated, dry and felt really grainy, which is why I made a point to exfoliate my skin in the morning, and moisturise using Simple Rich Moisturiser, cleanse again at night and then go in with Polar Night Cream, a really intense and quite rich moisturiser that regenerates the skin, which I received in this months Birchbox

How to rejuvenate your life after a messy weekend

What skincare are you loving at the moment?

As I mentioned, my body and bones were shot, and my whole being really needed revitalising. If you haven’t heard of Australian Bodycare products, please get to know! Their skin wash and body lotion, infused with Tea Tree Oil, really refreshes the body, which helps on mornings getting ready for work, and it smells refreshing too. Also sent in this months birch box has been Rituals Foaming Shower Gel Sensation, which I mainly use on the weekends after gym as the scent is calming and relaxing, and the foam feels nourishing against the skin – love!

How to rejuvenate your life after a messy weekend

Who else is loving their Birchbox this month?

Drinking alcohol leaves you feeling dehydrated and also quite shite, so I always make sure I drink loads of water throughout the day. Over the past week I’ve limited my coffee intake to just one a day while I’m at work, but I’ve swapped my usual teas for lemon and honey green tea, which has helped soothe my throat and I’m better for it – adding a slice of lemon and a few paracetamols helped too!

The problem with having a messy weekend is returning to work! Lawd, it’s the worst, but it has to be done. I really wanted to get a full body massage before making my dreaded return, but I just didn’t have any time, so to make up for it I just chilled with a Timeless Truth Eye Mask on, which ‘woke’ me up and reduced the puffiness around my eyes.

BH16

Using my Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. Oh my gahhd- this stuff is beautiful. It smells divine. I like using this when I feel crusty, as it hydrates the skin and gently refreshes you.

BH13

Lastly, I kick a horrible hangover with FOOD! I know you’re all probably fans of a greasy fry up – I am too, but when I was away, I was eating a fry up every day lol. When I got back home, all I wanted was some fruit and veg…honestly! I just wanted to feel human again. But on a real note, the best way to my heart when I’m feeling down is scrambled eggs, salmon and an Avocado – did you know they make you happy?

After following these easy revitalising tricks for the last week, I have felt somewhat alive again lol. Getting wasted really is a chore, how do you kick a really bad hangover and rejuvenate yourself?

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick Review

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’ve been obsessed with lip products lately, just check out some of my latest posts.

To be totally honest with you all, being this obsessed with tracking down the ‘right’ colour is a blessing and a curse – a blessing because I’m trying so many new lip products, many good, many terrible and a curse because purse is looking hunger!

I’ve been on the hunt… and I really do mean HUNT for the perfect nude/pink lipsticks ideal for women of colour. I have had so many lipstick fails over the months – I have to say I am so done with matte lippies for the minute! And after failing to bag a Kylie Lip Kit again I thought it was time to give up on that dream and try something different!

After writing my High End Beauty Wishlist, I continued with my research into different brands and I was re-introduced to Tarte.

I initially heard of Tarte when I worked at QVC, but never really gave the brand anytime, but, after seeing a few bloggers talk about their Tarte products and them wanting to try their glorious new range, I peeped their dreamy new collection, Rainforest of the Sea, I decided to take the plunge and go after some of their lip ‘saviours’.

I really didn’t know what kind of products to pick, as I was buying online – it’s so difficult to find shades that are true to their real life appearance… but I confidently went for their High Performance Naturals – a quad set of Amazonian Lip Butters.

tarte1

So you may be wondering why I did this to myself… AGAIN but the description for these lipsticks were on point, here’s what it said:

“Inspired by the whimsical colors of the Amazon and infused with naturally-derived ingredients from its lush vegetation, these Amazonian butter lipsticks add a splash of rich color and creamy shine for a perfect pout.”

…I mean how could I not?!

Plus, all of their products are made without: Parabens, mineral oil, Phthalates, Triclosan, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and Gluten and dermatologist tested!

But, what really drew me to this set was the names of the lipsticks, they’re named after exotic gemstones; Garenet, Ruby, Quartz and Topaz… I was sold and if you’re wondering why, I work in the jewellery industry and I love each of the gems for different reasons.

When I received my goodies (insert Ciara song) the packaging was lovely, so golden and shimmery and when I opened the small box package it was like looking into a garden (without sounding too cheesy).

The packaging of each lipstick is made out of cardboard, deepening the meaning of the lipsticks Amazonian blend, and each of the packaging is adorned with a pretty floral/filigree design.

tarte3

I jumped right in and swatched every colour and I was really happy with how they looked against my skin, although, I have to admit my fave is Garnet, it’s the perfect pink nude with just enough sheen.

tarte 4
Colours in order: Garnet, Topaz, Quartz and Ruby

Each lipstick is true to the title – holding a very buttery blend that glides onto your lip and really moistrises. They  also don’t really have a strong scent but they do have a vague refreshing minty smell, which is not overpowering or off putting, but a nice addition since it’s these lipsticks have taken out ‘bad’ ingredients and instead used natural ones.

You might have noticed that these lipsticks are not bolds but exactly as their name hints -Natural. They give a lovely sheer colour to your lip without being too ‘in your face’. These lipsticks also have great staying power and I can go all day without having to re-apply! It’s all you ever really want in a lipstick to be fair!

For £26 this set of 4 lipsticks has been a steal! Especially when I think of Mac selling one lippie for £15! They are perfectly coloured for darker girls who want to try a nude or a pink, and they are perfectly sized as I will probably use the colours before I get bored of the shades.

I have been wearing the Garnet shade non stop this week as I feel it is the standout shade in the collection, however, the amazing quality of these lipsticks have made me excited to try out some more.

With that being said will you be trying this spring forward quad? Have you tried any Tarte cosmetics, how did you find them? If you want to see what these lippies actually look like on my lips head over to my Instagram for some cheeky snaps!

See you on my next post x

High End Beauty Wishlist

Since a young age I’ve had a love / hate relationship with makeup, but over the last few years I honestly think immersing myself  in social media and blogging, has opened me up to the world of makeup in a positive way.

When I was younger, I squirmed at the thought of applying lipstick and vowed that I would never wear the stuff – it honestly scared me, to the point that I didn’t even like getting my face painted at parties – lol I was a weirdo, but as I’ve grown up it’s all become a bit of a playground for me. I now see applying makeup as a way to accentuate my best features, a luxurious step in the game of getting ready for the day ahead and I really have started to enjoy it.

Saying this though, I’ve recently come to look at my makeup collection through critical eyes, I’m just not excited by the products I use anymore and I put this down to the type of products I buy. I don’t own any high end makeup!

This may not be a big deal for many I’m sure, but I’ve come to a stage in life where I definitely appreciate quality over quantity and really feel it’s time for me to invest in good products, instead of the popular hype.

With anything I buy I have to ask myself specific questions, to see if what I want is a worthwhile purchase…
-Will it save me money in the long run?
-Once I have it, will I use it?
-How long will it last me, how long will I use it for?
-Do I have anything like this already?

High end makeup can pull on the purse strings especially as you DON’T actually need makeup to survive, but, if like me you wear makeup on a near daily basis, I think it’s totally acceptable to indulge in such products as, they’ll last, they’re of good quality (not saying that cheaper products aren’t) and a little goes a long way.

I dislike change with a passion, which means I tend to stick to products I know , but after a bit of research and peeping a few new releases, I’ve built myself a bit of a high end beauty wish list which mainly consists of base products, but I feel once you have great base products, you can build a fab look with any other type of makeup products you already own!

A more than few of these products are exactly what this post is about – A WISH! But, if I could afford these luxury beauty items, I definitely would…

Spring: My Favourite Lippies

Hey honeybuns, this month has been a really bad month in terms of how much money I’ve spent and how much beauty I’ve accumulated, but the sadder thing is, is that most of the things I’ve bought haven’t even been delivered yet – sad times 😦

As it’s finally spring, and the flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping (earlier and earlier -_-) and the days are becoming longer -yipee! I thought let you in on all the lippies I’ve been rocking this month… well, just because!

I’m a simple kinda gal, so I always stick to similar colours that suit my skin tone and that I feel confident wearing. As I’ve had a couple of days off work, I’ve been getting out and dressing up a little more than usual, so take a look at what I’ve been using on my lips, maybe you’ll try these out for yourself…

So first up – it obviously has to be a lip balm – a staple product in my makeup bag and if you read my Beauty Blogger Tag, I’m sure you know what it is. Last week I visited Lush and  I was actually in need of a new lip balm as my old faithful – Carmex -had run out. I chose Honey Trap as it’s quite thick and instantly moisturising, and it smells like honey – can it get any better? The only downside is that it’s £6 for a small tub, but if you’re obsessed with lip balms like I am, take the plunge it’s a beaut!

Next up is my NYX Strawberry Parfait Butter Gloss. This is a very recent buy for me, but I’m loving this gloss. I have to admit, I’m not a huge fan of NYX products but this gloss is perfect for me, it gives a great pink finish that’s not too offensive and ideal for wearing to work. The applicator is a great size too as well as the consistency – if like me and you get annoyed with really sticky formulas that are horrible to apply, this is a pleasant buy.

I’m a diva at heart, so when I saw this beautiful MAC lip liner and looked at the name I knew it was meant to be lol. Ms Diva is a beautiful wine colour that looks great as a lip liner to add a deeper tone to a pink gloss or just great you want to use all over your lip. It has great lasting power too.

I love, love, love this lippie, it’s one of my all time favourite and it’s a great colour for all year round. I bought this Urban Decay lipstick in Shame last year while in Barcelona and the packaging is so lush. I think its great for making an instant and easy statement, especially if the rest of your makeup is quite natural. The consistency of this lipstick is really creamy and not at all drying, which is what keeps me coming back!

I’m always on the hunt for a good nude, but its so hard to find a great shade that compliments me #blackgirlproblems. On one of my last trips to Mac I found this lipstick which took forever to find – there’s just so much choice! Polished Up is a beautiful brownish pink shade that gives my lips a nice flush of colour. I often grab this one on work days or when I don’t want anything too noticeable on my lips. Again it’s really creamy, lending itself to natural makeup looks.

Last but not least is an unexpected find – Barry M’s Cor Balmy in Rose Lea! It smells like marshmallows and gives me an iridescent pink hue on my lip, which I love for spring. This is my go-to lippie for every day, it’s so effortless and complements any makeup look I do.

So what lip products are you loving for spring? Let me know hunnies! x

The Beauty Blogger Tag!

Hey lovelies, I feel like it’s been a bloody lifetime since I last posted as life has just taken over, but I’m back with something fun and quite unexpected!

I’ve been nominated to do the Beauty Blogger Tag by the amazing Invoke Delight and Inspire (be sure to check her out!) so here goes!

The Rules for this Tag:

Tag the blogger that nominated you
Answer the questions you were given
Nominate 10 bloggers whose blog is about beauty/lifestyle/fashion
Name 10 questions for your nominees to answer
Inform the bloggers you chose that you nominated them.

Do you prefer matte or dewy foundation?
As I suffer with oily skin it’s quite funny that I actually don’t prefer matte foundation. I thought that it was the best foundation for my skin, however, I feel that matte foundations make my skin more oily! Instead, I use a dewy foundation but then set with a matte powder, so I get the best of both worlds and my skin doesn’t end up looking super oily or really dry and greyish.
What’s your favourite high end product?
This is quite sad that I don’t own any high end kind of makeup, although, these days I am constantly reaching for my MAC Burgundy 9x palette which is a luxurious palette, I love using it!
What’s your favourite drugstore bargain?
I don’t think I have a drugstore bargain, but I on my lips I use Barry M’s Cor Balmy in Rosie Lea – It gives a lovely soft pink colour to my lips perfect for a neutral every day look.
Do you spend more time doing your hair or your makeup?
Definitely doing my makeup! Most mornings I whip of my head tie, shake my hair and I’m ready to go, but no matter if I’m running late to work or not I love to take my time to do my makeup – it’s really relaxing!
Do you co-ordinate your shoes/purses?
One of my pet peeves in life is being too coordinated.
If you could only use one brand of makeup for the next month, which would you choose?
It has to be MAC! The most affordable brand that cater to every skin type.
What’s your skincare routine?
Since the beginning of the year, I made a conscious effort to take off my makeup and show my skin some well needed TLC. At night my skin regime consists of taking off my makeup with Body Shop’s Camomile Cleanser, I’ll then further clean with Garnier’s Charcoal scrub or wipe away any leftover makeup with Garnier’s Micellar Water and follow with moisturising with either Simple’s Rich Moisturiser or Body Shop’s Drops of Youth. In the morning I always use a face scrub, usually Garnier’s Charcoal scrub and moisturise with Drops of Youth. Quite straight forward but depending on my skins condition I alternate between different products.
Would you ever/have you done the no-poo shampoo method? If you’ve already done it, what were your results?
If you’ve read my hair post  I follow a regime that is quite effortless, however I only use a conditioner ONLY when I’ve coloured my hair, otherwise, I’ll use Tresemme hair shampoo and their conditioner which helps strengthen and volumes my hair.
What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve found about blogging?
It definitely has to be how supportive the blogging community has been. And getting to know other bloggers, so much so that I can genuinely call them friends! Also the twitter chats which are often hilarious!
Name your go-to lip balm?
I am obsessed with finding the perfect lip balm. My failsafe go to balm is Carmex, but on a recent trip to Lush, I treated myself to their Honey Trap Lip Balm, and O-M-G it is the best lip product ever. It’s quite thick so it coats the lip without being suffocating and greasy, instantly moisturises and smells delicious! Try it!

There you go! I hope you enjoyed my answers, and if you have any recommendations please let me know!
