During the festive period I really let any kind of skin/beauty regime I had going, slip – the last thing on my mind was making sure I cleansed my face, especially after a few proseccos with the fam.
And while I was neglecting my skin, it was plotting against me in THE worst way – spots, enlarged pores, rough patches – just ewwwww
Luckily for me, I was kindly contacted by the Konjac Sponge Company to o a review on one of their bestselling cloth sponges over the festive period, and I’m glad I accepted, because the Bamboo Charcoal Konjac Angel Cloth Sponge has worked wonders on my skin.
I don’t know if any of you have heard of Konjac before, but I hadn’t, which is why I immediately researched the brand to see if it would be something I would really use on my skin.
Learning that Konjac is a plant in Asia, free from chemicals and originally used for a plethora of things like medicine, food, dieting and as a beauty product, I knew it would be something I could comfortably incorporate into my daily routine. I was honestly excited to try their sponge for myself.
I was especially happy when I was given the chance to review the Bamboo and Charcoal sponge as Charcoal based products just works for my skin – if I know a product has charcoal in it, I’m more inclined to purchase.
Plus, after reading the qualities of the sponge and what it could potentially offer my skin, I was sold.
Here’s a preview of what it offers:
Naturally antibacterial and antifungal, our Bamboo Charcoal contains activated carbon and minerals which have been used for centuries to absorb toxins, remove excess oils and fight hard to reach bacteria.
This is exactly the product my skin was yearning for.
The sponge came packaged in the shape of an angel, which was quite cute as the product boasts being able to exfoliate and refine skin, leaving it as if it has been as if it has been kissed by an angel.
After removing it from packaging it felt really hard plasticy feel to it, as if it could snap in half, however, once wet with warm water, it became very soft and took on a weird texture, I’m guessing this due to it being a plant based beauty product.
Wetting it with just warm water on the first day my skin felt so so smooth, and after continued use, I learned that it could take off a full days makeup completely on its own. At this point I was seeing good results, however, I noticed that after using the sponge my skin would be noticeably oily, although the one large pore that really annoys me had minimised (does anyone else have that one pore that just looks like a massive pit?)
However, over the last two weeks I’ve been using the sponge with Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser for combination skin and my skin has been the best it’s been for a long time. My pores have minimised, I’ve not broken out *touch wood* and my skin has felt as smooth a baby’s bottom.
Plus, as Konjac is pH neutral which leaves skin perfectly balanced, I feel that with the help of the cleanser I’ve found the perfect combination.
All in all, I’ve loved using the sponge day to day. It’s easy to use, easy to clean and will last at least another couple of months (they say to change once you see the cloth looking tired)
So, thanks Konjac – you’ve definitely gained a customer in me – Thank You!
Have you used a Konjac Sponge, what do you love about it?
I’ve never heard of Konjac but it looks good, will need to research into it especially if its this good 🙂

It felt really soft on my skin which is great as it wont leave your skin sore if you go a bit wild with the scrubbing, but it has these little bubbles (the only way to describe it) that act as an exfoliator. Defo try it out x

I’ve never tried out a Konjac sponge but after seeing your review, I’m really tempted to purchase one! I’m impressed with the effect it had on lessening the size of your pores, that’s something that’s really important to me, so I need to give charcoal based skincare a go!! Thanks for sharing such an in-depth review, Rianne! Great post as always!
