High End Beauty Wishlist

Since a young age I’ve had a love / hate relationship with makeup, but over the last few years I honestly think immersing myself  in social media and blogging, has opened me up to the world of makeup in a positive way.

When I was younger, I squirmed at the thought of applying lipstick and vowed that I would never wear the stuff – it honestly scared me, to the point that I didn’t even like getting my face painted at parties – lol I was a weirdo, but as I’ve grown up it’s all become a bit of a playground for me. I now see applying makeup as a way to accentuate my best features, a luxurious step in the game of getting ready for the day ahead and I really have started to enjoy it.

Saying this though, I’ve recently come to look at my makeup collection through critical eyes, I’m just not excited by the products I use anymore and I put this down to the type of products I buy. I don’t own any high end makeup!

This may not be a big deal for many I’m sure, but I’ve come to a stage in life where I definitely appreciate quality over quantity and really feel it’s time for me to invest in good products, instead of the popular hype.

With anything I buy I have to ask myself specific questions, to see if what I want is a worthwhile purchase…
-Will it save me money in the long run?
-Once I have it, will I use it?
-How long will it last me, how long will I use it for?
-Do I have anything like this already?

High end makeup can pull on the purse strings especially as you DON’T actually need makeup to survive, but, if like me you wear makeup on a near daily basis, I think it’s totally acceptable to indulge in such products as, they’ll last, they’re of good quality (not saying that cheaper products aren’t) and a little goes a long way.

I dislike change with a passion, which means I tend to stick to products I know , but after a bit of research and peeping a few new releases, I’ve built myself a bit of a high end beauty wish list which mainly consists of base products, but I feel once you have great base products, you can build a fab look with any other type of makeup products you already own!

A more than few of these products are exactly what this post is about – A WISH! But, if I could afford these luxury beauty items, I definitely would…

  1. I like this Ri! It’s so much easier to buy a drugstore item and not feel guilty about it if it ends up in storage and doesn’t come out very often! But high end is a complete different story! It’s more of an investment so you have to be sure it’s going to be worth it. I don’t own much high end make up products either but I just want to get a feel for what I really like before jumping in x

    1. I totally get you! I think getting a few testers and going from there is the best way to go about buying more expensive pieces. I also recently subscribed to Birchbox which has helped open me up to brands i’ve never even heard about x

  2. This is a great idea to write a wishlist so you can get all the things you want. I don’t have much high-end stuff, but my fave high end product at the moment is the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Ultra Lipstick in Sugar – I got sent it by Boots.com by mistake, but I didn’t know it was the wrong one until after I’d tried it… and fell in love with it. It’s so creamy and the colour is a perfect brown nude (I can’t wear pink nude lipsticks). I’ve never had a lipstick that cost over £20 before, but the texture is MUCH more nourishing than my Bobbi Brown lipstick (although the colour doesn’t last as long). Are you planning to write about all these as you get them? I’d love to see a review of the Urban Decay Naked Skin!

      1. Well I paid for a different lipstick but they sent me the wrong one… I used it before I realized and fell in love with it so I was gutted when I emailed them and they said I had to return it. They sent out a replacement, but sent me the EXACT SAME WRONG LIPSTICK AGAIN. So I gave them the second one back as it was unopened and kept the first one lol. I’ve given up on getting the one I actually wanted but this other one is just amaze. So excited to read about these when you get them! 🙂
